A Letter from the Executive Director
Dear Friends of ACS,
Greetings! We all wish for a peaceful planet where “random acts of kindness” are the rule, not the exception. At Adolescent Counseling Services, we want to contribute to the harmony in our own small way by doing what we do best: smoothing the sometimes thorny path through adolescence for families and teens. So we encourage you to bookmark our website or, better yet, take a tour and learn more about what ACS has to offer you, your family, and your community.
Here at ACS, we’re all about making it easy for teens, parents, and funders to access information about who we are, what we do, and how to make the most of all the resources we have available for you. Even though we’re constantly updating our clinical work, we feel it’s almost as important to provide the best in technology so you can access what you need quickly and easily. Therefore, in our continued efforts to make our organization more accessible to teens, ACS can now be found on Facebook and MySpace.
As a former adolescent myself, I well remember how chaotic and bewildering that period in my life was. Sometimes parents forget that they too underwent those dramatic highs and lows, and so they forget to remind their teens that the enormous changes—physical, emotional, sexual—that are sweeping over them are a natural stage in their lives. That’s why at ACS, we stress communication between parents and children. Communication is like a two-way street that must be constantly swept clear of weeds, debris, and dead wood. If everyone does his or her part, everyone benefits.
I hope that clear channels of communication will remain a focus for your family, even as the hustle and bustle of daily activities makes everything seem a little tougher. For our part, we at ACS renew our resolve to provide the help the community needs, just as we have done since we began our work 34 years ago.
Best wishes to you all for a happy, healthy, and prosperous school year.
Sincerely,

Philippe Rey, Psy.D.
